About me!
Hey there, my name is Kristen Dickey! I'm an Actor, Model, and voice-over artist from Suwanee, GA. I'm a Senior at The University of Oklahoma and plan to graduate with a BFA in Drama: Acting from The Helmerich School of Drama this May (2025). I just finished acting as a supporting character in my first Feature Film “Whatever it Takes”, directed by David Kloehr and Brandon Thomas (Nuzion Productions). It is planned to be released in the summer of 2025.
Growing up, I was heavily involved in sports. I competed in gymnastics for seven years, played recreational soccer for five, and swam on my neighborhood's summer swim team for six years. After a career-ending injury, I broke my toe, I finally had time to explore theatre with my friends and had my big break as a leader of ants in a fifth-grade musical production. In middle and high school, my whole world revolved around musical theatre. Not only was I involved in all my school’s musicals, along with local theatre company shows, but I also took weekly private voice and acting lessons, along with ballet, tap, and acting classes. I even competed at JTF (Junior Theatre Festival) for five years and won my first award for Best Actor in seventh grade for her role of Annie in Annie Jr.
Training vigourously to audition for musical theater colleges, I realized that my whole identity was rooted in musical theater, so when COVID hit, I decided to change my focus and audition for acting colleges. After auditioning for 54 colleges on Zoom through the college audition project, I was set on The University of Oklahoma. During my first semester of college, I had no idea how burnt out I was and started to question whether acting was for me or not, so I switched my Acting emphasis to Dramaturgy. After taking a year off of performing, not only did I find my spark for acting again, but I knew that acting is in my blood and I need to be doing it. After switching my emphasis back, I got to perform a wide range of roles, including a teenager at summer camp who ate a lot of hot fries on stage, a princess, a pregnant southern woman, and an old man with one eye and a limp.
Besides Acting, my favorite art forms include improv, creative writing, and scrapbooking. Outside of being creative, I enjoy thrifting, lifting weights at the gym, cooking gluten-free recipes, and binge-watching TV shows, with White Lotus being my current favorite. Being a people person, I enjoy collaborating with others on projects and view acting as a way to disconnect from the outside world. TV and Film were the way my family would connect and have provided me comfort during some of the darkest times in my life. My goal is to test the limits and confront challenges people struggle with every day. My goal is to provide comfort to people watching my art, whether it's at the theatre or on their couch, so they can escape the chaoticness of life and escape reality.
